Crispy Cauliflower “Wings” from Woody’s Wood Fired Pizza

September 18th, 2019|Blog, Outdoor Recipes|

Steve loved cauliflower “wings” from Woody’s Wood Fired Pizza so much that we talked them into giving us the recipe! Breading Mix Start with equal parts cornmeal and either wheat or rice flour (gluten free). Add salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper to taste. Mix evenly and set aside. Prep You can start with cauliflower florets or cut a whole head into bite-size pieces. Place the pieces in a mixing bowl and add enough buttermilk to coat the cauliflower, but not pool at the bottom.  Once the cauliflower is coated in buttermilk, continue tossing and sprinkle with breading mix. Add enough mix so cauliflower is coated and not sticking together. It should appear fairly dry. Bake Place in preheated fryer at 350 degrees for approximately 2-3 minutes. Dip in your favorite dressing or sauce. Enjoy!! Dip Suggestions Ranch mix and milk is easy dressing! Frank’s RedHot and [...]

Family Ties: Deck Care Consultant Brian Sparhawk

September 11th, 2019|Blog, DeckTec News & Updates|

As they say, life happens when you’re making other plans. A year ago Brian Sparhawk was working in digital advertising for Comcast when his core project abruptly ended. Married with an infant at home, Brian, a Lakewood native, found himself out of work and seemingly out of luck. “Good ol’ Uncle Steve came through. He created a spot for me initially doing driving and labor. I started at the bottom rung of the ladder assisting the deck crews with anything they needed such as deck tear-outs, digging footings, moving materials, cleaning up and so on. We like to call it ‘construction support,’” Brian said with a chuckle. But Brian didn’t just have the right last name, he had what it took to do the job. “In high school and a little bit during college, my Dad was a builder and handyman, so I would do the same thing for him [...]

If It’s Labor Day, Why Don’t We Have to Work?

September 4th, 2019|Blog|

From startups to natural foods Colorado is a bellwether state and has been ahead of the curve in so many ways. Did you know that the Centennial State was one of the first to give women the right to vote? We were also one of the very first states to celebrate Labor Day. That’s right – Coloradans like a good day off when we see one! The very first Labor Day was celebrated in New York City in 1882. It was organized by the Central Labor Union and about 10,000 laborers marched in that first of many “workingmen’s” parades.  There were some Labor Day holidays held at the municipal level in 1885 and 1886. In February 1887 Oregon was the first to make Labor Day a state holiday, after which four more states – our beloved Colorado along with Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York – followed suit later that [...]

Call Adam today at 720.388.1210 or visit DeckTec.com/Deck-Refinishing before the hot and dry weather impacts the finish on your deck.
