Once you decide your deck needs some refurbishment, give us a call at (303) 277-1550 to discuss your deck’s needs or fill out our web form here. One of our deck specialists will review your information and contact you by email or phone to discuss the specifics about your project. Be prepared for a technical conversation about your deck’s individual parts; it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with a few technical terms, such as stringer, cap rail, and joist (refer to the diagram below if you have any trouble). After your conversation with a deck specialist, we will determine whether DeckTec is a good fit for your needs and how to proceed forward with the repairs. Please review the rest of this page to fully understand the whole renovation and repairs process. And thanks for considering DeckTec!
Budgeting for a Repair
Similar to repairing your car, the cost of repairing a deck can vary greatly depending on the severity and scope of the project. As a company that prides itself on its comprehensive approach to every aspect of deck construction and care, DeckTec constantly strives to give you the best options possible for your budget and your deck’s needs. Simply put, DeckTec will give you a straightforward assessment on how to return the structure of your deck to like-new condition at the lowest possible cost to you. That said, there are also many things we can do to make your deck more visually appealing by remodeling and rebuilding. Below is a menu of services we offer that will give you a better sense of what your project may cost.
Please note: if you are looking for a temporary or cheap fix to a structural problem, DeckTec is not the company for you. We take pride in our work and refuse to provide services that fail to meet our high standards.

Repair and Refinish: Combine and Save!
As a specialty decking company that offers a full range of services, we always strive to provide services tailored specifically to meet each client’s unique needs. Not only can we conduct full repairs on your deck, but we also specialize in refinishing, too. The best way to maximize the value of your investment is to combine these services and get them done all at once, ensuring that your deck is both visually appealing and structurally sound.
Site Assessments & Fees
When it comes to your deck, there’s nothing more important than a sound structure. Because a solid structure is so essential, we conduct extensive site evaluations that are far more comprehensive than the average repair company or handyman. In the evaluation process, we will diagnose all structural and aesthetic issues with your deck and recommend the most comprehensive and cost efficient plan of action.
We charge an on-site assessment fee of $79.95 prior to scheduling; however, this fee will be applied to the balance of your work if you choose DeckTec as your contractor for the job. We also provide digital assessments for a reduced fee of $29.95; just send DeckTec a detailed description of the problem areas along with applicable photos (both close up and panned out) to firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will respond accordingly. For payment, you can mail a check or call our office at (303) 277-1550.
*If after the preliminary site evaluation, it is determined that a ‘deck map’ will be required (or is requested) to provide a more detailed scope of work and life expectancy of the structure, this service will be performed for $350.00. This fee will also be applied to the balance of your work if you choose DeckTec as your contractor.
DeckTec is committed to providing the highest quality repairs and consistently goes the extra mile to provide exceptional service for our clients. Due to the significant investment we’ve placed in this division of our company, we’ve discovered that there is a minimum charge of $3,000 for refinishing and/or repair jobs that we must collect in order maintain the highest level standards for the safety and integrity of your deck.
When to Replace Instead of Repair
- If the cost of the repair is over 70% of the cost of new construction
- If the deck is over 15-20 years of age
- If the current layout of the deck doesn’t serve your needs
- If you are planning on living in the home for 8 years or more
- If you are planning a large-scale landscape installation
- If you wish to increase the marketability of your home (i.e. if you plan to sell in 5 years or more)
These are the best reasons to consider a full replacement of your deck. The most appealing aspect of a new deck is the opportunity new construction provides for design. As a true design build company, we strive to meet the latest building trends while satisfying the inspired desires of our clients. And according to Remodeling Magazine’s 2015 Cost vs Value Analysis, new decks provide an 80% ROI (return on investment). These are important considerations when planning an outdoor living improvement or repair and at DeckTec we make it our passion to guide you through the process!
Realtor or Home Purchase Assessments
In the process of buying or selling a home, homeowners are often responsible for providing a deck assessment of their structure to prove the safety standards are up to date. DeckTec provides quality and safety assessment services by our deck service professionals for a fee of $199.95; if the deck needs repairs, this fee will be applied to the balance due should you choose DeckTec as your contractor.
Insurance Claim Assessments
While working on open claims for storm damage with your insurance company, you may wish to have your deck assessed by a deck specialist to make sure the insurance company has offered adequate allocation of funds for the necessary repairs. DeckTec provides damage assessments for insurance claims for $99.95; this fee will be applied toward the balance dues should you choose DeckTec as your contractor for the repairs. Please note: scheduling subsequent site visits with a DeckTec representative implies your intent to proceed with our services.
For existing customers, we encourage that you call us before agreeing on a final allocation with your insurance company. We prefer to be in direct communication with your insurance company to ensure they allocate full coverage for the entire restoration of your deck.
If you are already working with a general contractor or roofer on your claim, we require that you allow DeckTec to deal directly with the insurance company on your behalf for the deck restoration portion of the claim. We reserve the right to refuse to work as a subcontractor, as we do not hire subcontracted labor for our services. It is because of this that we can continue to maintain the highest standards for deck restoration to our clients.
A fee of $99.95 will be collected at every site inspection DeckTec performs. If the primary/general contractor and/or the represented party wish to have a representative of DeckTec meet an insurance adjuster on site after a proposal for damages is generated by DeckTec, DeckTec will be compensated $75.00 per visit for this service. Payments for these services can be mailed, phoned in, or given to the DeckTec representative at the time of the site assessment. If payments are mailed or phoned in, they must be collected prior to the release of the proposal by DeckTec. In the case of the $75.00 fee for secondary (or subsequent) site visits, DeckTec will invoice the appropriate party for payment.
