I suspect you may have sustained hail damage from our recent series of spring storms.

How do I know?

Because I, too, got whacked by these spring storms.

Hail can wreak havoc on your home, your deck included. Depending on the hail size and intensity of the storm, hail will pummel your deck floor and railings. The effect of hail stones on a deck damages the most visible areas of the deck, leaving your outdoor oasis visually displeasing and exposing the surfaces to more significant sun damage if not repaired. In extreme cases, hand railings and verticals are literally shredded, creating a dangerous risk of injury.

Luckily, DeckTec is the Metro’s deck damage expert. We’ve repaired more hail-damaged decks than anyone in the state. Our crews are fully prepared to refresh your hail-damaged deck to its full potential. Ensuring you don’t miss any time outdoors this summer. Even better, your insurance policy can help cover the repair costs.

But, please, beware.

Since DeckTec is recognized as the premier hail damage solution, our estimate is often garnered by contractors and submitted to insurance companies for more money(1). The work is then subcontracted to a cheaper company while the point contractor pockets the difference. Instead, DeckTec is fully capable of working directly with your insurance provider. Please follow these instructions to ensure you get the best service and avoid getting taken advantage of.

What you can do to ensure a proper restoration of your deck:

  1. Insist on your insurance provider and roofer/general contractor that you contract directly with DeckTec. This is critical for us to offer you the best service possible. Recall when you hired us initially, we don’t use sub-contractors and don’t work in that capacity ourselves.
  2. This may be met with some resistance from the insurance provider and/or roofer, but it is your right as a policyholder to select who performs the restoration of your deck. Simply put, it is ok to deal directly with DeckTec regardless of what your roofer or insurance liaison told you.
  3. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call us directly at 303-277-1550. We look forward to restoring your deck to optimal condition.

In your service,

(1) A typical insurance claim will work something like this:

  1. The insurance company establishes a point of contact (typically the roofer replacing your roof). This contractor is then loosely defined as “in charge” of securing all other contractor bids for the restoration of your home (gutters, siding, windows, sheds, fences, and, yes, decks).
  2. As the premier deck company in the area for 25 years, we are often chosen by the roofer to provide a “bid” for the work needed to restore the deck to whole. Unfortunately, what we have seen is the roofer will often use our proposal to secure more money for the claim and then talk their client (YOU) into using a cheaper, often unqualified person or company, so they can pocket the difference to increase their profit.
  3. You are left with a substandard restoration that can VOID your DeckTec warranty.
