Deck Project Highlights

DeckTec Client Review – Hadsell, Evergreen, CO, 2021

June 6th, 2022|Deck Project Highlights, DeckTec News & Updates|

One year ago the fantastic crew of Cody, Will, Andy and Tommy were busy building our dream deck. It was a pleasure having this crew here every day. Will usually arrived first and reviewed the previous day’s work. He easily answered any questions that Dave and I had. Cody always knew the general plan and kept the project moving. These guys were always pleasant and positive and it was a joy to work with them. They were awesome dealing with our new puppy, Bogey, who was only 7 months old and a bit of a pest if running loose…we are sure he stole a couple lunches but I never heard a complaint from the ‘victims’. They had to shovel through snow onto the site at least 3-4 times and worked in conditions Dave and I considered horrible…snow, rain, fog and temps below 20 degrees. On several of the sunny days [...]

A Room with a View: Relaxing on Deck with Jim & Susan Judge

November 20th, 2019|Blog, Deck Project Highlights, Life On Deck|

When it comes to Jim and Susan Judge’s deck, third time’s the charm. The Judge’s first deck, which came with their Highlands Ranch home, was a poorly constructed “builder deck.” On their next deck, they tried the “Trek type stuff,” as they put it. “We saw the commercials on TV,” Jim said. “We figured it was low maintenance ha-ha.” While the composite deck didn’t splinter like the first deck, that second deck didn’t work out so well either. “The floorboards warped and there were screws popping up. I was afraid to have our grandkids running around out there, I was afraid they’d trip and hurt themselves,” Susan said. “We never sat on it because it wasn’t appealing or comfortable. We wound up spending all our time below the deck where we have a concrete walkout from our finished basement,” Jim said. Outdoor living was about to take a turn for [...]

Ann & Paul Sims: Windsor’s Winter Wonder Deck

February 20th, 2019|Blog, Customer Feature, Deck Project Highlights|

When Ann and Paul Sims moved from Loveland to Windsor in April, choosing DeckTec to create and build a winterized deck for their new home was a no-brainer. “This is our third project with DeckTec.” Ann, a construction software consultant, said. “They just do fantastic work.” Paul, deputy sheriff of Larimer County, agreed. While they’ve been in Colorado for 20 years, the Sims, originally from Florida, enjoy being outdoors as much as possible. For their first deck at the Loveland house, other contractors simply offered the basic slatted roof (trellis or pergola) that the Sims had asked for. DeckTec, on the other hand, proposed a more functional and appealing open gable (A-frame) roof addition, and the rest is history. “Steve came out and knew we needed something more. He came up with his own design and we loved it. It’s turned out to be perfect for us,” Ann said. “When [...]

Client Interviews: The Skibinski Family

Friends and family say that Mike and Korrie’s DeckTec deck has turned the already-beautiful Skibinski home into a luxury resort. But it’s not just about impressing others. The split-level Mahogany deck, which was completed in July, works for the Skibinski family on so many levels (no pun intended). Architecturally, the deck connects the house to the pool, creating a sense of flow that the Westminster property lacked. Korrie, who works in education, now has a place to relax after work and as she put it, “just listen to the rain.” For the Skibinskis’ 13-year-old daughter, the deck is a peaceful, quiet spot outdoors where she can concentrate better on her homework. And the deck brings people together. The family eats dinner together out there regularly and hosts large parties without it feeling crowded. In fact, the deck offers something for everyone – including the youngest Skibinski. “It’s not like the [...]
