How To Repair Hail Damage On Your Wood Deck

July 22nd, 2020|Deck Care & Repair|

When it comes to protecting your deck, one of the biggest enemies here in Colorado is hail. Colorado ranks number two in the nation for hail damage claims. And if you’ve lived here long, you know Colorado sees its fair share of surprise spring and summer hail storms! In fact, our state gets around 300 hail storms every year, the most destructive which happen around June. Colorado has recorded hailstones the size of grapefruits in the past. You don’t want to get hit by one of those, that’s for sure. And you don’t want your deck getting chipped and damaged by hail, either. While real wood is the best decking material, it can still suffer damage in a serious hailstorm. Hail can leave pockmarks in your wood deck, resulting in chipping and fraying on the surface of your deck. Hail can also break through the stain on your deck, breaking [...]

As a member of the DeckTec community you have, no doubt, heard about our love affair with California redwood. This wood is strong, long-lasting, bug and disease resistant, and one of the finest building products ever discovered. And chances are if you have a DeckTec deck, you have it right under foot. But is redwood's existence going to be there when I need a new deck? We don't tend to talk in terms of the wood's natural state, unless there is something in the news that might affect either the quality or the price of the great wood we use. Lately, the drought in California has been frequently mentioned on television and in magazine articles, so we thought we'd check in with the California Redwood Company (a subsidiary to the Green Diamond Resource Company) to see if there is cause for concern. Gary Rynearson, Manager of Forest Policy and Communications, [...]

As one of the experts, Steve is asked to weigh in on a variety of topics related to the home improvement industry. This week's topic posed the question, "What is the best tool in your toolbox?" While there were a variety of specific responses - a tape measure, a smart phone, cinnamon scented pencils - Steve's advice stressing the importance of design was listed as most insightful: “When making home improvements, the best tool a consumer can invest in is a professional design. Design lays the foundation for any home improvement project. Having a well-thought-out plan is the difference between a space that is never used and one that is beautiful, functional and adds value to the [...]

We’ve moved!

October 12th, 2011|Blog, DeckTec News & Updates|

After being under the same roof for the past 16 years, we've made a big change to the way we run our operation. We've split our office into two locations - our office staff in one, the construction crews in another. Our home office has moved one block north to 16000 W. 5th Avenue in Golden. From here, we manage all customer service needs including proposals, scheduling, sales and accounting. We have enjoyed being a part of the Golden community for the past 22 years and look forward to continuing to build relationships with the wonderful neighbors we've had during that time. Our phone number has remained the same - 303-277-1550. Our shop is now located at 12150 W. 44th Avenue in Wheatridge. This location is more centralized for our construction and service crews to depart from, allowing them to get to job sites more quickly and efficiently. We plan [...]
