Position Summary
As a Draftsperson and Estimator at DeckTec, you will play an integral role in the company’s design and engineering process. As a key member in a small company, you will be highly involved in the technical aspects of our projects, from initial contact with a client through to final construction preparation.
Working in our talented Design, Engineering, & Estimation department, you will start with the basics and work up to learning all the details involved in deck design and construction. We are a tight-knit team that constantly helps each other out and bounces ideas back-and-forth. As an employee at DeckTec, you will always feel challenged but never feel lost or without assistance.
Draftsperson & Estimator Responsibilities
- Converting hand-drawn sketches into digital drawings
- Creating 2D presentation plans for clients
- Structural analysis and substructure design
- Comprehensive cost estimating and material take-offs
- Technical proposal writing
- Work with building jurisdictions to acquire construction permits
- Prepare dimensioned construction plans
- Create 3D models of upcoming projects
- Project administration
Qualifications
Required/Minimum:
- Experience with CAD drafting (SketchUp Preferred)
- Good communication skills & works well in a team environment
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
- Strong attention to detail
- Technical writing skills
- Minimum high school diploma
Desired:
- Understanding of structural design concepts
- Experience creating construction/manufacturing drawings
- Carpentry/construction experience
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or other relevant degree.
