1. Don’t trim large or dead limbs in the spring or summer. This is best to do before so many animal species are nesting, including larger birds like owls.
2. If squirrels are gnawing on your deck, try capsaicin-based repellents or lightly rubbing the exposed surfaces with a bar of soap. Use caution with capsaicin; it can be transferred to your hands and will cause intense irritation if you rub it into your eyes.
