What do you like to do on your days off?
A typical day off is full of reading, drawing, and enjoying the outdoors with local wildlife in my neighborhood near Bailey. Whenever I’m in the city I go to local art shops, cafes, and I go crazy for good food! I also love making architectural models as well as gunpla and other scale model kits.
What is a past trend that needs to come back?
Needs to go away? We need to bring back colorful and bold designs, especially in homes! White walls and sparse decorations are always a bit too clean and never feel homey to me, but a good mix of vintage finds and natural inspired design will always have my heart.
What is your favorite part of working at DeckTec?
I love working with everybody in the company! Especially my coworkers in the Engineering & Estimation department as we work together to solve problems and make sure all of the details in a project are refined. We have such a wide range of experiences and personalities from the carpenters to IT which makes each day fun. Nothing beats seeing your 3D models and drawings come to life thanks to the skilled builders!
If you have out of town guests, where do you take them for dinner?
The Empress on Alameda & Federal is the best dim sum in town!
What is a memorable experience you had on a project or with a client that you are particularly fond of?
Visiting a recent project we had out in Keenesburg that I had done the drawings and model for! It was a 25’ x 25’ free standing roof structure and seeing the carpenters work to put up such a massive structure was very impressive due to their attention to detail and planning to ensure the 400+lb beams were perfectly aligned across such a large span. The roof is currently looking beautiful, and seeing a wood project of that scale in a backyard is very unique.
What is your favorite thing to pack for lunch?
I’m usually packing leftovers because I love a good home cooked meal.
