Designing a new deck or outdoor living space can be daunting, but to get you started, here is a list of items to consider before you take on a new deck project:
☐ Before you begin, BE SURE TO SEND YOUR PICTURES to DeckTec – mail@DeckTec.com
☐ What are your outdoor living needs? What are your desires? Be specific in listing those features your family requires.
☐ What types of events or gatherings do you want to accommodate? How many people?
☐ Are there unique site features you’d like to include? Remember, you’ll be looking at your deck 365 days a year. Make sure you enjoy the view.
☐ What activities, amenities, furnishings and design features do you want your addition to incorporate?
☐ Are there HOA rules you need to take into account?
☐ Are there features your family may outgrow?
☐ Are there mature trees that may be providing shade and cooler temperatures to your home that may need to be removed?
☐ Sketch your ideas on paper taking into consideration size, scale, and traffic flow. When you take this step, you’ll be further formulating ideas and better able to communicate them to one of our designers.
☐ When does the construction need to be complete? Work from this date backwards to allow the time necessary to complete your project. Add buffer time for weather and permit considerations. From the beginning of the evaluation stage to the last nail can take several months depending on the complexity of your design.
☐ Now evaluate the sketch with your budget in mind. Trimming a project at this stage is far easier than having to do so during construction. Consulting with your designer can save you big and still bring in the deck of your dreams.
With careful planning, your deck can be more functional and efficient in handling all your outdoor living needs and desires. Once you’ve done your “homework,” and completed the checklist above, you’ll be better prepared to discuss your needs with a deck specialist at DeckTec.

3. Presentation:
Your Deck Specialist will return with plans and a proposal written specifically for you. They will review design features, cost estimates, and address any questions you might have.
4. Pre-Construction Preparation:
Once you’ve given your stamp of approval on the design, we get to work. Our expert Project Manager will review your plans and proposal with you again and will triple-check all measurements and site features to ensure a smooth construction process.
5. Construction:
Our team of expert craftsmen construct your custom outdoor living environment with the highest standards and attention to detail, providing you peace of mind.
