Our Little Secret: Interior Painting
Did you know that our DeckTec Deck Service teams didn’t start their careers restoring and refinishing exterior decks? In fact, when recruiting talent, we look for painters. More specifically, we look for ‘interior painters.’ Why interior painters? They are known for their meticulous attention to detail with an eye for even the smallest imperfections. Every stroke and finish inside a home must be flawless. We’ve found that this precision makes them ideal candidates for our team, so this is exactly what we look for when training them in our advanced exterior refinishing and staining techniques. In addition to finishing and refinishing decks, our finish specialists paint and finish roof additions and sunrooms. They also paint home exteriors. Back in the early years, before we had the volume of jobs we currently have, our finishers would paint in the cooler months so they are experienced and backed by the DeckTec satisfaction guarantee. We have learned that many of our clients are interested in having a room or two freshened up before the Holidays, and DeckTec is more[...]

News from DeckTec’s Top Designers: Endorsement of Paver Patios for CO Residents
Paver patios are the IDEAL solution for outdoor living spaces in Colorado, thanks to their modular nature. Did you know that concrete slab patios crack due to expansive soils found in the Font Range? Rather than heaving or cracking the way a concrete slab does, pavers are individually connected and are able to move freely. Even better, pavers are the closest thing there is to a ‘No Maintenance’ outdoor living floor - When an issue does appear, it’s quickly fixed by replacing damaged parts - Much like how Legos work. For comparison - Paver surfaces require even less upkeep than composite decks do. Paver patios, like decks, have undergone significant changes in the last several years. No longer just a landing space, or a small complement to a large deck, paver patios have gained popularity as standalone installations. Innovation in material design has been largely fueled by people like you - Smart homeowners that want excellence in design and materials while retaining cost. This awareness has created enormous competition between manufacturers. No one wants to feel[...]
On Deck – Staying Ahead of the Curve
In 1990: The Simpsons first appeared on TV The first GPS for a car was introduced by Pioneer Apartheid was abolished by Nelson Mandela The 2 best-selling singles were: Elton John, Sacrifice & The Righteous Brothers, Unchained Mercy DeckTec started building incredible outdoor living spaces I believe most people’s perception of a deck is a somewhat generic square or rectangular platform off the back of a house - at least when I started DeckTec 35 years ago, that was the case. Having previously been employed in landscaping, sunrooms, and custom cedar homes, all of which featured elements of decks and outdoor living spaces, I started to pick up on an increasing element of design in trade publications and in the field. Having grown up in a home where family and holiday gatherings were hosted on a nice, covered patio, the importance of outdoor living and design became obvious to me. I discovered a related niche in the still undeveloped outdoor living design and build business. Decks with levels, staircases with landings, roof additions, and integrating spas[...]
