One year ago the fantastic crew of Cody, Will, Andy and Tommy were busy building our dream deck. It was a pleasure having this crew here every day. Will usually arrived first and reviewed the previous day’s work. He easily answered any questions that Dave and I had. Cody always knew the general plan and kept the project moving. These guys were always pleasant and positive and it was a joy to work with them. They were awesome dealing with our new puppy, Bogey, who was only 7 months old and a bit of a pest if running loose…we are sure he stole a couple lunches but I never heard a complaint from the ‘victims’. They had to shovel through snow onto the site at least 3-4 times and worked in conditions Dave and I considered horrible…snow, rain, fog and temps below 20 degrees. On several of the sunny days we joined the guys to throw a few horseshoes and enjoy a tasty cold beverage after work was done.

Our 25-year-old beat up deck and pergola was replaced by an expanded well-designed deck that functioned much better for our family (thanks, Tom Darr!). A stunning roof cover with a couple of powerful heaters made our deck usable even over this past winter. The redwood decking, rail lights, rope light tray, dog gate, drink bar, privacy rail and new set of steps to an existing patio were additional highlights of this project. Every night the site was thoroughly cleaned up…tools covered, trash removed, deck swept.

Any “unanticipated event” was dealt with swiftly and professionally…the incident of the dual-trunk aspen tree being in the way of the new roof was a tough one but the crew helped us identify a solution and took care of the problem. It wasn’t their fault at all but they “owned it” and their sympathy was genuine! When one of the newly placed downspouts threatened to flood our yard they understood the concern. Cody identified the need to dig a 25-foot ditch by hand to connect the downspout to a drain and bury the whole thing. Will & Cody helped us troubleshoot the drip system for our hanging baskets and rail planters. Tommy surprised me with some custom trays he built for my planters so they wouldn’t sit directly on the top rail and ruin the wood…they are gorgeous. Andy did a great job on the drink bar and rail lights. Will built the dog gate, added an additional latch to secure the gate in the “open” and made sure the new stairs set up properly onto an existing patio. He even took on some puppy-care when I had to be away for long days! This crew went above and beyond for us every day and we will always remember that.

DeckTec sent us their best! We tried to show them our appreciation in small ways but the most effective way seemed to be by inviting them back to see the finished project complete with heaters, lighting, plants and furniture. They know they are still welcome to stop by any time.
