The Future of Outdoor Living Starts with the Right Deck
Homeowners Want More Than a Backyard Upgrade Today’s homeowners are thinking differently about outdoor living. A new deck is no longer just a weekend project or a seasonal luxury. It has become an extension of the home—a place for gathering, relaxing, entertaining, and creating meaningful everyday experiences. That shift is transforming the way homeowners approach deck building and outdoor design. Instead of focusing on isolated features, families are investing in complete outdoor living environments that feel beautiful, function year-round, and add lasting value to the property. At DeckTec, we help homeowners create outdoor spaces that are not only visually stunning,[...]
Are You Ready for Outdoor Living?
When homeowners look out from their family room or kitchen, the view beyond the back windows tells a story. Is the deck a neglected afterthought—or the outdoor oasis it was always meant to be? At DeckTec Outdoor Designs, the goal is always the latter: a space that feels inviting, personal, and alive. For many clients, designing and decorating their outdoor space comes naturally. The DeckTec team is continually inspired by the time and care homeowners invest in making their decks uniquely their own. Thoughtfully selected furniture, carefully placed art pieces, vibrant flowers, and lush greenery transform each project into a[...]
When a Deck Becomes a Room
Whether it’s wood floors, wood furniture or, of course, wood decks and roofs, I’ve always had tremendous appreciation not only for the durability of wood but for the warm, welcoming atmosphere that wood contributes to our living spaces. As I see it, there’s no substitute for the way that wood enhances our sense of home. Nothing manufactured or mass-produced can possibly compare with what nature has provided, and that’s why DeckTec relies exclusively on[...]
A Season of Gratitude
It’s that time of year again, when we collectively pause and take a moment from our busy lives to reflect on the many things we have to be grateful for. No matter the ups and downs of our lives – and we all have some – there’s always so much to appreciate if we just look. We’re blessed to live in an unusually beautiful place full of cultural and recreational riches. The economy is strong and has allowed DeckTec to grow and even expand. (And, if you’re anything like me, you’re probably grateful that the elections are over!) It’s hard[...]
My Scary Personal Story: What a Long, Strange Trip It’s Been
I’ve never liked horror movies or scary movies of any kind. But like most everyone, I’ve had to face some pretty scary things in my own life. When someone once asked me about the scariest thing I’d ever experienced, I told him, “When you have a wife and three small kids and no job, let me tell you, it doesn’t get any scarier than that.” Thirty years ago, before DeckTec, that was me. Broke and scared, I launched DeckTec on a prayer and a maxed-out credit card. It all started back in the late 80s, during one of Denver’s infamous[...]
